Choosing a Diet? Critical Thinking!

Written by Argumentful

Although we’re posting this while many are in the midst of or have just abandoned dry January, Veganuary or other New Year’s resolutions, the thinking behind the argument map below has been started many years ago. We’ve attempted to develop transparent criteria for assessing diets and have chosen one as the best match.

One thing to consider is that, unlike politics, science doesn’t provide final answers. It provides a solid basis to iteratively judge new discoveries and continuously improve an existing body of knowledge. Also unlike politicians, we don’t take pride in citing ourselves from umpteen years ago and saying we’re sticking to the same statements although context may have changed. It’s OK to always welcome new evidence and reconsider one’s position. What should stay the same is your system of values as well as the ‘rules of the game’, the logic on which arguments are built and which Argumentful enforces.

Thus, consider this argument map as version 1.0. We’ll be constantly evolving it as well as the tooling around Argumentful to create it and the text generation algorithm.

PS: Another thing to note is that we’re not at war with the ketogenic diets. To paraphrase Dr Garth Davis (here), if there’s research that shows its superiority, this is what we’ll recommend. Such research to build a wholistic argument couldn’t be found at this point in time but we’re still looking.
